They called the dream catcher ’asabikeshiinh’, which means spider. On the other hand, the legend focuses on ‘Asibikaashi’, the spider woman. She was a spiritual protector of Ojibwe people and protects the children from harm.
As Ojibwe people started spreading across the land, Asibikaashi found it harder and harder to protect the tribe. Therefore, the dream catcher was created.
The dream catcher acts like a spider web which filters by trapping the bad dreams or visions while allowing the positive ones to go through. The legend of the dream catcher is to only let the positive energy in and protect ur from evil.
IN MODERN TIME
